Paagan Kollywood Movie Review

Story: An okay tale the story begins with Subramani (srikanth) who is a happy go lucky youngster and his only love is his bicycle. For this, he is willing to do anything. Meanwhile, he along with his friends Velliyangari (parotta suri) and Makali (pandi) have dreams of becoming rich overnight but they don’t want to work hard for it. However, they hatch a plan. According to that, Subramani should woo and make Mahalakshmi (janani) to fall in love with him. She is the daughter of a very big man and Subramani thinks he can inherit her property. However, the plans go awry and he lands in trouble. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation: The director has come up with a routine storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative was not that engaging.  The dialogues were standard, the script was moderate and the screenplay was lacking strength. Background score was good but songs were average. Cinematography brought some relief. Editing was required at many places. Costumes were stylish and trendy while the art department was rich. Srikanth has given a committed performance though he missed the mark in few places. Janani Iyer is a natural beauty so she did her bit well. Parotta Suri brought few smiles while Pandi was apt. Kovai Sarala scores brownie points. A Venkatesh was neat.

Conclusion: The film has a promising plot but then such lines need proper execution. If that doesn’t happen then the interest element will go away. While the first half goes off with few elements of romance, comedy and some action it is the second half which gets too dragged. The lengthy dialogues and unwanted scenes have hampered the flow of the film. Overall, this is a film which is good in parts so it could be an average grosser at the box office.
