Story: A nostalgic tale, the story begins with Devi (vishnupriya) who has been in coma since the past 25 years and comes to consciousness. This is a miracle of sorts and it creates news in media. This is seen by a group of her college friends and they decide to meet her, along with a surprise. The surprise is Babu (uday) who is in the jail. He was Devi’s lover in the college. As they travel to meet Devi, each member recalls their times and happy days in college. What happens in the five tales forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation: The director has come up with a mixture of five different tales and while the presentation was alright, the narrative was good in few stories. The dialogues were average. The script was written with some conviction but the screenplay was just adequate. Background score was appealing and songs were humming. Cinematography was upto the mark. Editing was required at few places and scenes. Costumes were stylish and retro while the art department made its presence felt strongly. Vishnupriya was upto the mark. The male leads Sanjay Krishna, Vinod, Shakir and Nivas carried their roles with good involvement. Shivani was neat and Vaidehi was alright. Kasthuri was a revelation and her seductive charms were appealing. Rajkapoor was effective. |
Conclusion: Stories based on the backdrop of the 80s and trying to have a flashback along with five different tales is not an easy task. But the director has managed to weave them convincingly with a good range of emotions and feelings. While the first half goes about with the youthful moments along with the romance and comedy, it is the second half which has some dose of melodrama. The Kasturi episode was good. At the box office, the film might be a profit grosser. Bharatstudent verdict: Passable entertainer filled with memories |
