Mayandi Kudumbathar Kollywood Movie Review

A well knit tale, the story is set on the backdrop of a small village near Dindigul, Maayandi (Manivannan) lives with his sons Thavasi (ponvannan), Seenichamy (jagan), Virumaandi (seeman) and lastly Paraman (Tharun Gopi). They are all very close and attached to each other and Paraman is the pet of them all. On the other hand, Mayandi's cousin Virumaandi (GM Kumar) has got his sons Maayandi (Singam Puli), Chokkan (Ravi Mariya), Seenu (Nandha Periyasamy) Pandi Kumar (Kumar) and Mokka (suresh). Apparently, both brothers Maayandi and Virumandi are not on talking terms due to a property dispute but then that does not stop Maayandi from treating his brother's sons like his own. However, Virumandi's sons are waiting to have their revenge. Things change after Maayandi dies and the wives of the two sons start ill treating Paraman. He decides to stay away from the family to avoid conflicts and is determined to pursue his studies and fulfill his father's dream of becoming an engineer. But then, Virumaandi's son plans to take revenge on Maayandi's family. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Mayandi Kudumbathar Tamil Cinema Review

The director has come up with a rather simple but sensible storyline and he has scored on the presentation and narrative departments. The script was written well, the screenplay was adept, the music suited the moods and the cinematography captured the moments. Editing was neat and crisp. The art department and the costumes were quite realistic. Tharun Gopi fitted the role very well while Poongudi did her bit with grace and natural appeal. Seeman was effective, Jagan was apt, Ponvannan was neat, Deepa was impressive. The real show stealers were Manivannan and G M Kumar who came up with a strong performance. Overall, it was a really good impact by all actors.

Mayandi Kudumbathar Filem Review

The film has come across as a rather fresh attempt at impressing upon the essence of family values and affection. While the first half goes about with the family feuds, the second half shows how essential it is keep the bond together. It has been a brilliant effort by the cast and the crew to come up with a sensible entertainer. This is perhaps the first time that a total of ten directors have come together in the lead. The film has it all to appeal to the family audience and the efforts must be appreciated.

Bharatstudent Verdict : Well taken, sensible and worth watching
