Mathiyosi Kollywood Movie Review

A neat tale, the story begins on the backdrop of the Kadavur village and here live four youngsters - Mangaa, Kona, Pandi, Maari (Harish, Alex, Gopal, Visak). All of them are die hard friends for each other and they believe in doing things differently. Their penchant for variety makes them get into troubles and they become the Porkis of the village. In no time, they end up killing the son of the president as well. Soon, the people of the village retaliate and the four boys are sent away from the village. They reach Chennai and it is here that they meet a pretty girl (shammu). However, an incident takes place and this makes the girl part of their team. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Mathiyosi Tamil Cinema Review

The director has come up with a thoughtful theme but then he was unable to execute it well on the narrative part. The presentation was good since the dialogues were alright, the script was average, background score was good and two songs were worth taking home. Cinematography held a good score in capturing the angles and the locales very well. Editing was neat and crisp. The screenplay faltered at many places and that could have been avoided. Costumes didn't have much to do while the art department was realistic. Pat on the back for the stunt and fight sequences. On the performance front, all the four leads Harish, Alex, Visak, Gopal worked really well and they gave their best in their debut. However, it is the seductive looking Shammu who has stolen the show and made her presence felt despite so many male characters around. Ravi Maria was impressive while Ponvannan was placid. The remaining characters just came and went, they didn't have much to offer.

Mathiyosi Filem Review

The film seems to have taken a line or two from the previous hits which were set on the backdrop of the villages and came to the city. While the first half is spent on building the plot and introducing the characters, it is the second half where the speed picks up but then it is the poor handling of the script and inconsistent screenplay that spoiled the fizz. There are few good points to be seen here and there but overall, the film is more of an average treat. Technical values are good and so are the performances but then it would appeal more to the mass audience while the classes would stay away.

Bharatstudent Verdict : Passable but could have been better
