Mappillai Kollywood Movie Review
Story:
A remake tale, the story begins with Saravanan (dhanush) who hails from middle class but is a good man at heart. He helps all around him and his life takes a turn when he sees Gayathri (Hansika), daughter of the rich and arrogant industrialist Rajeshwari (manisha). Saravanan falls in love with Gayathri and vice-versa. Rajeshwari agrees for the marriage since she wants a son-in-law whom she can control. However, when she discovers that Saravanan was once the most feared goon, she drops the plans. But Saravanan doesn't go back and marries Gayathri. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a remake storyline and while the presentation was nice, the narrative was upto the mark. The dialogues were fitting, the script was written without much flaws and the screenplay was adequate. Background score was effective and songs were the highlight. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was crisp. Costumes were natural while the art department was matching the situations and looked apt. Dhanush gives a natural performance and takes away the cake. Hansika looks like a doll and is a visual feast to the audience. Manisha Koirala was apt with her performance and she fitted the role correctly. The real show stealer was Vivek with his hilarious one-liners. Cell Murugan was witty. The others didn't have much to offer.

Conclusion:
The film is the remake of the yesteryears hit with the same title and this had superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. Now, the makers have tweaked the script a bit to suit the contemporary audience and they managed to make a mark of their own. Comparisons are natural to happen but then the film manages to score. While the first half goes on the lighter side with comedy, romance, action it is the second half which gets the momentum going. Overall, this is a fun filled entertainer which can be watched once. At the box office, this will be a profit grosser.
