Magesh Saranya Matrum Palar Kollywood Movie Review

An interesting love tale, the story begins with Mahesh (Sakthi) who is all excited as his sister Keerthana's (Saranya Mohan) wedding is fixed and he is going back to his ancestral home to join his family for the occasion. All is well till he reaches home and excited by the incidents, he calls everyone and shares his love story about Saranya (Sandhya) that he met in Chennai and expresses his desire to marry her. Though the family members listen to his story, they take it rather lightly. As the wedding moments come closer, a twist in the tale comes when the elders come up with the decision of forging an alliance between Mahesh and the groom's only sister (Keerthi Chawla). Shocked by this development, Mahesh puts his foot down and gives his decision about Saranya. All this ends up in a big mess and Keerthana's marriage is cancelled, as time passes the groom's sister informs Mahesh that her wedding has been fixed elsewhere and Mahesh goes to Keerthana's prospective husband and narrates his flashback with Saranya. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Magesh Saranya Matrum Palar Tamil Cinema Review

The director has come up with a rather delicate and tender love tale but then the narrative has been quite weak though the presentation is good. The script has been written well and the screenplay is equally effective but then the music was not upto the mark and the cinematography could have been more sharp at few places. The dialogues were above average and though the mood of the film is alright, it is the slackened pace that really spoiled the show. Editing was poor in this one. Sakthi has been the real showstealer in this movie and he has delivered an excellent performance. Equally competent was Sandhya who fitted the role of the bubbly girl very well. Keerthi Chawla looked glamorous and Santhanam was his regular best with the comedy. The others also did their bit to contribute and the performance department has been quite convincing.

Magesh Saranya Matrum Palar Filem Review

The film is an interestingly knit love tale and unlike the regular mushy mushy tales, it has more of a practical outlook and the climax has been convincing. While the first half of the film is more on the lighter side with romance and happiness everywhere, it is the second half that takes a drastic turn and leads the audience to a relatively acceptable climax. The main drawback for the film is its pace which has really got dragged at key instances. If only the makers worked at tightening those lengthy scenes, it would have turned out to be a successful venture. For now, it might be a decent returner.

Bharatstudent Verdict: A different movie but slow, can be watched if you like slow movies.
