Madhayaanai Koottam Kollywood Movie Review
Story:
A violent tale, the story begins with Parthi (kathir) whose mother is the second wife of a respectable man in a suburb of Madurai. But issues crop up between his family and the first wife’s family and things get violent leading to hatred and vengeance. Meanwhile, Parthi’s sister Deepa has a friend Ritu (oviya) who stays with them during her college days and after she leaves their home she realizes the love for Parthi. What happens at both ends forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a vengeful storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative could have been clear. The dialogues were rough. The script was complicated and the screenplay was adequate. The background score was nice but songs were not that appealing. Cinematography was bright but good. Editing could have been sharp. Costumes were rustic while the art department was filled with nativity. Kathir looks apt for the role given the characterization. Oviya looks sensuous and good. The film belongs to Viji for her versatility and expressions. The others did their bit as required.

Conclusion:
One of the main reasons the film tends to suffer is due to the crowd in the screen and the seriousness in its flavor. Right from the first scene though there are few elements of comedy the overall feel is more negative and intense. The focus is more on death rituals and funeral rights than a proper plot. The second half becomes a violent saga with deaths happening at regular intervals. Overall, this is a film which can be liked by select serious audience. At the box office, this is doubtful.

Bharatstudent verdict: Very violent and serious
