Kazhugu Kollywood Movie Review

Story: An intense tale, the story is set on the backdrop of Kodaikanal and here live three friends Sera (krishna), Nandu (karunas) and Shanmugham (thambi ramaiah) who earn their livelihood as body lifters. They are the people who lift the deadbodies of those who commit suicide. During one such instance, Sera comes across a dead girl who commits suicide due to love failure. But his soft spoken ways appeal to the victim’s sister Kavitha (bindu madhavi) and she starts liking him. After a while, Sera also feels for her and they decide to get married. However, the arrival of one Ayya (jayaprakash) creates a major storm in their lives. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation: The director has come up with an offbeat storyline and while the presentation was appealing, the narrative was gripping. The dialogues were written with wit and humour. The script was strong and the screenplay was intense. Background score was haunting and songs were rich in melody. Cinematography captured the locations very well. Editing was crisp. Costumes were natural while the art department was appealing. Krishna Sekhar gave a versatile performance and his depiction of various emotions is worthy. Bindu Madhavi was a show stealer. She was quite expressive and has a natural sex appeal. Karunaas was nice, Thambi Ramaiah was upto the mark, Jayaprakash was riveting, Nellai Siva was natural, Suji Bala was standard.

Conclusion: There are those new wave of moviemakers in Tamil who have been coming up with some content driven flicks. This is one such project. While the first half goes on a lighter note with some humour and elements of romance, it is the second half which takes a different turn and gets serious. Moreover, it has a dark theme associated with it and though the dose of reality is hard to digest, it does leave an impact on the audience. At the box office, the film has the right ingredients to appeal to the B, C centre audience and also the thinking audience. This would be a profit grosser.
