Story:
A routine tale, the story begins on the backdrop of a village near Thirunelveli and here lives Ramasamy (balachander), an angry old man who is rich and a staunch Congress follower. On the other hand, there is Singaravelan (bharathiraja) who is a staunch communist and both of them have their rivalry since decades. The same passes into their family and even their grandchildren end up having that same rift. However, the story takes a turn when Susheela (anjali), a school teacher living at Singaravelan's home falls in love with Murthy (aari). With this, the children patch up and decide to unite the lovers. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a predictable fare and both his presentation and narrative are average. The dialogues were good at few places, the script was normal and the screenplay was routine. Background score was good and two songs were hummable. Cinematography deserves full marks. Editing was not upto the mark, costumes were regular and the art department was strong. Balachander was exceptional in his performance and equally competent was Bharathiraja, they were the highlight. Anjali looks naturally beautiful and she fits the bill while Aari was alright. Srinivasan was standard, Manobala was medium, Karunaas was cool while Ken was impressive. The others did their bit to add value to the film.

Conclusion:
The film came in with a lot of hype but then it has not been able to live up to the expectations. It scores a lot on performances from the lead cast but the content has been quite weak. While the first half of the film goes on with the regular elements, the story actually picks up in the second half. The film would have been a lot better if there were few additional twists added to it. At the box office, the openings would be high for the hype but eventually they would come down. 
 
Bharatstudent Verdict : Could have been better
