Story:

A well made film, the story is about the brilliant and shrewd lawyer Krishnan (RK) who has the ability to bail out his clients from the toughest of cases using his brains but then he ends up giving them his own form of justice after the legal sentences are given. He has a strong reason to do that since he sees his father, also a known lawyer who saves his clients from a case and ends up getting killed by them. Life goes on until Krishnan is approached by the parents of nine college girls who have been accused of torturing and murdering Chintamani (Bhama), a medical student. Krishnan begins his investigation by meeting up with Chintamani's father Veeramani (Manivannan). He is assisted in this case by a entertaining group (Roja, Vadivelu) and on the other hand there is the CID officer (Raghuvaran) who is assisted by a cop (Nasser) and then there is the Public Prosecutor (Ashish) who is keen on nailing the nine girls also known as the 'Mirchi Girls'. Is Krishnan successful in his attempts? Who is the real killer? Does Krishnan execute his own style of punishment again? All this forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come out with an effective presentation of the subject and though the presentation was a bit weak in few aspects, the narrative was quite strong. The script has been written well and the screenplay was smoothly handled. The music was not upto the mark but the camera did its bit fairly. Editing could have been better at few points and dialogues at the court room sequence were capturing. The comedy track was effective in the serious plot. RK was professional in his performance and he did what was delivered without any unwanted emotions and silly feelings. He has potential, Bhama fitted the bill as the timid girl and the senior cast like Raghuvaran, Nasser, Manivannan, Visu, Manoj K Jayan contributed very well. The special seat given to Vadivelu was justified and he came out with his share of laughs very neatly. Overall, good performance by all.

Conclusion:

The film happens to be a remake of the Malayalam super hit 'Chintamani Kola Case' but then the Tamil flavour was quite strong in this and sometimes overshadowed the original. The first half of the film shows the background of the protagonist and the second half goes more towards the suspense angle and ultimately a gripping climax. Technically, the film has a fair share of good points but it is the suspense and the direction that keeps it going. The movie will make its money and it will be a profit grosser.

Bharatstudent Verdict: Gripping and well knit, can be watched.
