Baana Kaathadi Kollywood Movie Review

An interesting tale, the story begins in the backdrop of the Chennai slums and here is Ramesh (atharva) a plus 2 student. His only passion in life is kites and he would not hesitate to do anything about that. An incident leads him to chance upon Priya (samantha) and by mistake, her pen drive ends up with him. Eventually, that leads to trouble for Priya at college and she manages to trace Ramesh. The initial scuffle goes onto friendship between both and Ramesh falls in love with her. However, a twist happens and Priya leaves him and goes. On the other hand, Ramesh also becomes a witness to a murder committed by the local goon Ravi (prasanna). What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Baana Kaathadi Tamil Cinema Review

The director has come up with a thinking storyline and though the presentation was okay, the narrative was good. The dialogues were neat, the script was sensible and the screenplay was apt. Background score was effective and two songs can be taken home. Cinematography was top notch while editing was average. Art department was the main highlight while costumes didn't have much to do. Ramesh gave a good performance though it was his debut and scored well. Samantha was stunningly beautiful and she has shown potential. Karunaas managed few smiles from the audience while Prasanna was impressive. Gajendran was regular and Monica was mediocre. The others didn't have much to contribute in this one.

Baana Kaathadi Filem Review

Though the film takes off on a very entertaining note, it eventually gets quite emotional and sentimental as well. The first half is quite light on the elements of romance, comedy and some action but it is the second half that makes the difference. Overall, this is a good attempt by the makers and at the box office, this could be a profit grosser. The kite flying theme is something which will connect with the audience in a big way.
