Anthony Yaar? Kollywood Movie Review

A stale tale, the story is set on the backdrop of the fishermen community and here comes Antony (shaam) who is brought to the fishermen by the parish priest. He is an orphan but in no time, he wins the heart of all those present there with his kindness and good deeds. However, trouble begins in the form of Michael (lal) who wants to collect money from the fishermen using his muscle power. As expected, Antony clashes with Michael and soon the villain gets the chance to strike Antony and throw him in the sea. Just when all think that Antony is dead, he rises from the sea and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Anthony Yaar? Tamil Cinema Review

The director has come up with a very ordinary storyline and though the presentation was neat, the narrative was not good. The dialogues lacked strength, the script was weak, the screenplay was average. Music played a good role as there were two songs worth humming and the cinematography could have been better. Editing was missing at few key points, the art department was alright and the costumes were suitable. Shaam fitted his role alright but he looked too glamorous at few places, Mallika just came in for romance and dance nothing more, Lal carried out his role with ease, Vivek saved the show with his wit and humor, Rajesh was upto the mark. The others didn't have much to do in this one.

Anthony Yaar? Filem Review

Right from the word go, the film had everything served in plate so there was nothing more that the audience could expect. While the first half was all the romancing, regular fights and masala comedy, the second half gets a bit tweaky with all the element of divinity and the eventual payback theme. The film suffered mainly on the script and also due to the excessive hype during its making. It will be hard for the movie to survive due to the lack of content so better luck next time folks.
