Story:
A convincing tale, the story begins with the young and
beautiful Sahira (Priyanka) who is living in Gujarat along with her parents. While his father Yusuf is
a Muslim from Kerala, her mother is Nargis who is based in Gujarat. Sahira also has a darling sister Shamla and it is
one small happy family, however Yusuf always has the longing to get back to his
homeland Kerala and keeps sharing with his darling daughter Sahira. But as fate
would have it, riots break out in Gujarat and
Sahira's family is destroyed, she is brutally raped and is left to die but then
despite her condition she manages to bring strength and escapes from there. To
her luck she gets on to a truck that goes to Kerala and by the time she reaches
there she is in a mess. Sahira gets admitted into a hospital and is taken care
of by Doctors Mary (Suhasini) and Gopinath (Biju Menon). However, the story of
Sahira starts making rounds and in no time a set of politicians, rights
activists and others start troubling her just to get a piece of their own meat
and publicity. Despite the pressures, the doctors finally manage to treat Sahira
and make her recover but then her mental trauma is still not cleared. What
happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come out with a rather realistic subject
and the narration and presentation of the movie was above average. The script
was tight and in control while the screenplay was sensitive though it faltered
at few times, the editing should have been crisper to increase the voltage.
Camera captured the moments correctly while the background score was good.
Priyanka came up with a top notch performance as the troubled girl while
Suhasini and Biju Menon were the perfect fits for their roles. Suhasini's
dubbing got messed up at few places but her performance was good. The others had
small bits to contribute but then it sure added value to the film.

Conclusion: The film has come up with an up close and personal
experience of a person who has seen a major personal crisis. The first half
takes off on a smooth mode and takes a deadly turn in about few minutes, later
the film has got some really intense and shocking moments which have proved good
but then the attempt to induce humor was a wrong idea and also the inclusion of
songs disturbed the rhythm. This is more of a serious cinema so there is nothing
in it for the commercial audience. Success may not be in it but then critical
acclaim can surely be awarded.
Bharatstudent Verdict:
Hard hitting, worth watching!!! |
