Vathiyar Malluwood Movie Review

Story: A routine tale, the story begins with Anoop Krishna (jayasurya) who aims to do MBA and get into a good job. However, his late father Krishankutty is an iconic teacher in that area and he arranges for a teacher’s job to Anoop by paying Rs 10 lakhs. But Anoop is not interested. However, due to the loan taken, he is forced by his family to take up the job. With this, he joins an U P school which is run by Gangadhara Kurup (vijayaraghavan) and his sister-in-law Subhadra (menaka). His new style appeals the students but Anoop hides his job from his friends. One day that gets discovered and his friends create chaos at school. One incident occurs and Anoop is faced with the situation of proving himself as a teacher. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Vathiyar Malayalam Cinema Review

Presentation: The director has come up with an expected storyline and while the presentation was pleasant, the narrative was not that engaging. The dialogues were decent, the script was shaky and the screenplay was not that great. Background score was appealing but the songs were ordinary. Cinematography was just okay. Editing was not sharp. Costumes were stylish for the protagonist while the art department was natural. Jayasurya has come up with a committed performance and he does well. Menaka was nice. Vijayaraghavan did his bit as required. Kochu Preman brought few smiles, Ann Augustine was brief, Anoop Chandran was apt, Kalpana was alright.

Conclusion: Given the fact that it was directed by a debutante, the film had its share of hiccups due to a shaky screenplay and not enough depth in scene composition. While the first half goes on a lighter mode with elements of comedy and some songs, the second half gets into the serious part but it doesn’t have the required twists and turns to rope in the viewer. Overall, this is a film which has been made in simple way and not much conviction. At the box office, this will be a below average treat.
