Vande Mataram Malluwood Movie Review

Set on the backdrop of Chennai, the story begins with Gopi Krishnan (mammootty), head of intelligence for south India. He is given the task to apprehend Malik (deepak), a dreaded terrorist. For this, he takes the help of tough cops Anwar (arjun), Ashok (akash). They begin their investigation and finally get to Malik. However, the interrogation fails as Malik doesn't open his mouth. Krishnan comes up with a plan to use his wife Nandhini (sneha) to resolve the matter but things become topsy turvy. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Vande Mataram Malayalam Cinema Review

The director has come up with a patriotic tale and though the presentation was good, the narrative was mild. The dialogues were decent, the script was okay, the screenplay was not that effective. Background score was good and two songs are good while cinematography has done justice. Editing was good, costumes were effective and the art department was appealing. Mammootty and Arjun came up with splendid performances while Sneha gives that required homely sex appeal. Mamatha Mohandas was glamorous, Deepak looks mean as the villain, Akash was average, Nasser was natural, Jayaprakash and Riaz were brief, Jagathy was good. The others didn't have much to offer.

Vande Mataram Filem Review

The film is basically a patriotic treat and except for the high ammunition star power, the viewers have seen such subjects before. While the first half goes about smoothly, there are a few hiccups in the second half and that loses the connection with the audience. The film would have scored if the script was given more gravity and the focus was kept on two important issues instead of bringing many things. At the box office, this will be an average grosser but some publicity from the makers will help salvage the situation.
Bharatstudent Verdict : Beaten patriotic theme, nothing new
