Story: A tale that
could have been better, it begins with Balaraman (mohanlal), a truck
driver who works in a forest called Chittazha. He is into bamboo
transport and is also a leader of few good men and fights against those
who come to create trouble in that region. He has Muniappan by his side
and has got a foster daughter Ganga (ananya) who is gearing up to join a
medical course. However, there is a past that Balaraman has been
escaping from and the past comes back to trouble him. In this process,
he gets protective about his daughter. What happens after that forms the
rest of the story. |
Presentation: The
director has come up with an average storyline and though the
presentation was good, the narrative could have been better. The
dialogues were nice, the script was a bit complicated, the screenplay
was effective. Background score was good and four songs are nice but
their timing was bad. Cinematography was exceptional. Editing was
required at many places. costumes were realistic and the art department
was apt. Mohanlal carried out his role with élan and he shoulders the
film very well. Padmapriya looks sensuous and perfect for her role,
Ananya was neat, Kalabhavan was alright, the real show stealer was
Samuthirakani in his cameo who gave a powerful show, Jagathy was witty,
Suraj was not upto the mark, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy was luscious, the
others did their bit as required. |
Conclusion: The film
takes off on a wrong footing and it takes a good while for the audience
to understand what is happening. Few of the sequences look quite
clichéd. However, it is after a while that things settle and the second
half makes up for the flaws in the first half. Given the presence of
Mohanlal in the front, the film has got an appeal to all genres of
audience. If only the makers had altered the duration of the film and
worked on the content, this could have created a strong result for the
box office. For now, it will be an above average prospect. Bharatstudent Verdict : Passable entertainer... |
