Second Show Malluwood Movie Review

Story: A regular tale, the story begins with Lalu (salman) who lives with his mother (rohini) and his best friend (sunny sujith). He is into sand mafia and eventually he grows up in the line to become a close aide of the local thug Vavachan (baburaj). However, Vavachan gets killed by his enemy Vishnu Budhan (sudesh) and Lalu gets into the main line. However, he also gets involved into the drug business and this leads to a tale of bloodbath, vengeance and other turmoil. How Lalu emerges from all that forms the rest of the story.

Second Show Malayalam Cinema Review

Presentation: The director has come up with a practical storyline and while the presentation was stylish, the narrative was a little unusual. The dialogues were nice, the script was written with value and screenplay was average. Background score was good and songs were not upto the mark. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was required during the second half. Costumes were trendy and stylish while the art department was apt. Dulquar Salman was alright for his debut but he needs to work on his walking, dialogue delivery. Sunny Sujith was marvelous. Avantika was alright, Gowthami Nair was general, Baburaj was standard, Sudesh Berry was good. The others didn’t have much scope.

Conclusion: The film came in with a lot of hype since it marks the debut of Dulquar, son of megastar Mammootty. However, the focus was more on the story and its packaging rather than focusing on giving Dulquar a larger than life image, this must be appreciated. While the first half goes about with the required elements of violence, hard hitting dialogues etc, the second half doesn’t deliver the same momentum. Unwanted songs and few other sequences hamper the impact. Overall, the film is a decent attempt with realistic portrayal. At the box office, this should be an average to above average grosser.
