Patham Nilayile Theevandi Malluwood Movie Review

Story:
A psychological tale, the story begins with an ex-employee of the railways (innocent) and he tends to suffer from a strange disorder. He is able to hear the whistles and horns of railway engines at all times driving him crazy. Also, there are the sounds of trains going at full speed next to him that are ringing in his ears. However, things change and he is on the path to recovery so he keeps writing letters to his son (jayasurya) asking him to come and take him back. But then the son is least interested as he is busy with his own life. However, fate has something else written and what is that twist forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director came up with a thought provoking theme but then he was not able to sustain it with narrative though the presentation was decent. The script was not written strongly, the screenplay was a bit weak, the dialogues were okay. Background score added to the moods and the songs were hardly felt. Cinematography was good at many places, editing was not upto the mark. The other departments did whatever they can. The film belonged to Innocent and he came up with a fabulous performance, Jayasurya did justice to his role. Meera was there to add her bit, Vijayaraghavan was regular, Anoop Menon was alright, Indrans tried to give those light moments. The others didn't have much to offer.

Conclusion:
This is basically a deep and intense kind of film that could have been transformed into a message oriented movie. However, due to the lack of proper narration and gripping script, it kind of fizzled out. The first half looks promising but things go down before the interval, the same happens in the second half as well and in the end, a good movie has been moulded into something average and amateur. The subject chosen was thick so it required matured handling. Overall, the film could have been better but it is good in parts.
