Story: A remake tale, the story begins with Ashok Raj (dileep) who renames himself as Chakravarthy. He runs a drama troupe but his brother Baburaj (biju menon) who runs a garment business falls in heavy losses and fails to repay loan. The bank ombudsman Raja (bhagyaraj) comes to seize the property but he is a childhood friend of Ashok’s father. So, he gives an advice to Ashok to woo the heart of Raja Lakshmi (sanusha) who is the daughter of an arrogant mother (khushboo) and stubborn grandma (sheela). Raja Lakshmi is the heir to crores of property. Whether Ashok is able to win her heart or not forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation: The director has come up with a entertaining storyline and while the presentation was extravagant, the narrative was predictable. The dialogues were good at places, the script was light hearted and the screenplay was average. Background score was impressive but songs didn’t have that feel. Cinematography was good. Editing was required at many places. Costumes were grand and stylish while the art department was also extravagant. Dileep gives his performance to the fullest and shoulders the film in a good way. Sanusha did her bit as required. Khushboo was good. Sheela was nice. The trio of Baburaj, Salim Kumar, Suraj failed to impress. Bhagyaraj was decent. The others didn’t have scope. |
Conclusion: The film has taken a strong inspiration from the Bollywood movie Jamai Raja and as one can see the theme of the film is quite outdated. However, it is the quotient of comedy and entertainment that pulls the film through. While the first half goes about with a slow pace, things pick up during second half and have the required number of twists and turns. Overall, this is a film which is not a great product but has sufficient entertainment for the masses. At the box office, it could be an average grosser. Bharatstudent verdict: Could have been a much better entertainer |
