Kerala Police Malluwood Movie Review

A routine cop story, the film is about C I Sathyanath (Mani) who is an honest cop, does not take recommendations and is courageous with his find of convicts. However, he hails from a backward class and is always looked down upon by his colleagues Mukunda Varma (Baiju) and Venugopal who hog the limelight and credit for Sathya's deeds. He gets into the wrong books of seniors for his honesty but then his only guardian angel is the Superintendent of Police Philip Tharakan (Innocent) who protects him all the time. Meanwhile, Sathyanath is assigned the task of investigating the murder of Goa based freelance photographer Bimal Roy in the tile factory and his tactical approach leads him to the door of well known actress Sanjana (Lekshmy Sharma). He starts to work on it intensely and in no time Lekshmy confesses to the crime but then the police instinct of Sathyan tells him that she may not be the only one after all and decides not to arrest her. The case gets passed to CBI and a special team led by Nandini Verma (Swarnamalya) comes into the investigation. Nandini is very repulsive to the way the police force works and this leads to an altercation between Sathyan and Nandini from the onset. With things not getting anywhere, Sathyan goes on leave and with the help of his trusted constable Balram he gets into a personal investigation on this case. What happens in the end? Who is the killer? Who gets the killer? All this forms the rest of the story.

Kerala Police Malayalam Cinema Review

The director who is a very experienced person has yet again come with the same menu and did not venture much into giving it a different treatment or creativity. The narration is predictable, the presentation is regular, the script is usual and the screenplay is average. Not much help is got from the music and editing department, the camerawork did not have much to stress upon as there was nothing mesmerizing to hold. Mani comes across as a regular cop and this time his theatrics are reduced, Lekshmy Sharma is a wrong choice for the role, Swarnamalya is ok. The saving grace in this is the comedy by Bijukuttan which managed some relief with laughter. The others came up with their performances mechanically as there was nothing special their roles had to offer.

Kerala Police Filem Review

Honest cop movies are a regular affair in the Malayalam industry so the director should have focused on a more intense plot than just churning out the regular formula dose. The usage of caste is very unparliamentarily presented and filmmakers must refrain from doing so as their medium has a lot of impact on the society and its thoughts. The movie went like a straight line since there was no novelty and though the suspense was on till the end, it was pretty much predictable. There is nothing gripping in the film which will make the audience feel their money's worth.

Bharatstudent verdict : A routine flick, can watch if nothing worthwhile to do.
