Story: A good tale told weakly, the story begins with the life of three individuals Choonda (manoj) his seductive wife Thamara (shweta) and the Kabaddi player Sajikuttan (bala). Apparently, Thamara is chased by the local goon Reghu (anil murali) but she rejects his love. Now, he decides to challenge Choonda for a game of Kabaddi and brings in the best team led by Sajikuttan (bala). However, it turns out that Saji discovers Choonda to be his long lost elder brother. However, Choonda gets killed and meanwhile Thamara begins to yearn for Saji. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation: The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative was not upto the mark. The dialogues were okay, the script was written without much strength and the screenplay was tacky at key points. Background score was good but songs were unnecessary and uninteresting. Cinematography is the saving grace. Editing was okay but it could have been sharp at the required places. Costumes were regular while the art department made its presence felt. Manoj K Jayan gives a valuable performance though the scope was limited. Bala was good enough. Anil Murali was apt. The real performer was Shweta Menon who not only oozes her oomph but gives an effective act as well. Aparna Nair was average, Chembil Asokan was okay, Seema Nair was standard.

Conclusion: The film came in with a lot of hype given the presence of Shweta Menon and the controversy about an aphrodisiac. However, the film lacked the required content to appeal all genres of audience. This is more suitable for the mass audience and since Shweta is around, she gives a visual feast to them. While the first half was okay, the second half takes few twists which are not very convincing. At the box office, this might work out at the B, C centers but success is not sure. Bharatstudent verdict : Sensuous but could have been better. |
