Janakan Malluwood Movie Review

A thought provoking story, the tale begins with Viswanathan (suresh) and his wife Nirmala (kaveri) who are a happy couple with their darling daughter. Their life takes a toss when their daughter is raped brutally and is murdered. Viswanathan wreaks out revenge and he is helped in this process by his friends (Biju, harisree). Now, they are trying to come out of this crime spree and the one man that can save them is lawyer Surya Narayanan (Mohanlal). The cops are on hot trail of the three assailants and whether Surya Narayanan manages to get them out or not forms the rest of the story.

Janakan Malayalam Cinema Review

The director has come up with a known plot but then it was his presentation that appealed while the narrative was regular. The dialogues were routine, the script was written well at few places while the screenplay normal. Background score was effective while songs have zero effect. Cinematography was nice. Editing was crisp. Costumes were not having much of work while the art department also had the same situation. Mohanlal came up with the standard performance but his presence was not utilized well due to poor etching of his role, Suresh Gopi was excellent, Kaveri was neat, Biju Menon was alright, Hari Sree was good, Jyothirmayi did her bit very well, the real show stealer was Vijayaraghavan. The others came and went but didn't have much to offer.

Janakan Filem Review

The film takes off on a rather sensitive subject and it is a problem the society has been dealing with but then such things require finesse in handling and writing. Both were missing and though the first half was alright, the second half sees many instances where the main plot is ignored and irrelevant scenes pop up. It is the star power and their performances that work for the film though the execution of the product was not upto the mark. At the box office, this might be an average grosser.
