Story:
A regular
formula film, the story is set on the backdrop of the Kerala- Karnataka border
and here lies a village Chattambinaadu. This has a story of two powerful
families fighting from many years. On one hand, there is Mallanchira
Chandramohan (manoj) and on the other hand, there is Kattapilli Nagendran
(Siddhique) both sworn enemies. The story takes a turn with the arrival of
Veerendra Mallya (Mammootty) from across the border. He is known to be a rich
man but with a strong criminal background. He wants to buy the mansion owned by
Mallanchira and apparently, he has a concrete objective for his visit and a
mission. He is ably supported by his henchman Murugan (vinu Mohan). What happens
from there forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation: The
director has come up with a typical commercial formula and both the direction
and narrative are on the same plane. The dialogues were interesting at few
places, the script was regular and the screenplay was effective. Background
score was not that great and even the songs were just okay. Cinematography was
fine. Costumes were natural and the art department was rich. Editing was poor on
this one. Manoj Jayan gave a standard performance and so did Siddhique. They are
experienced in such roles. Vinu Mohan gave a good act. Lakshmi Rai looks
luscious as usual while Mythili did her bit. The humor was provided by Salim and
Suraj, it was justified. The real showstealer was none other than Mammootty
himself who didn't have depth in his character but it was due to his handsome
looks and exemplary performance that scored the brownie points. The others need
no mention here.

Conclusion: The
film has followed the routine path of two big families at loggerheads and how a
protagonist enters to make peace. However, a lot rested on the narrative as well
as the performances. While the first half looks gripping with some sequences,
after sometime, the grip goes down and by the time second half arrives, the
audience knows what is in store. There is not much for those who are looking for
quality and content but the ardent fans of Mammootty would like him for sure.
Overall, it is an average treat with sound commercial values.

Verdict: Typical Mammootty treat, his
fans will like it
