Canvas Malluwood Movie Review
Story:
A confusing and complicated tale, the story begins with Manaf Hussain, who is an artiste and a dramatist. He has got an assistant in the form of Ramu (kannan) who is very talented and believes in enacting every scene to the actors before they do it. Apart from these two, there is also Madhuri (vidya) who is a very busy heroine in the Bollywood circuit but then she agrees to be a part of a new play devised by Manaf. The play is that of Yayathi who falls in love with Devayani and Sharmishta. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a whimsical storyline and though the presentation was good, the narrative was bad. The dialogues were confusing, the script lacked objective, the screenplay was complicated. Background score was alright, cinematography was decent. Costumes were neat and the art department was strong. Editing was not sharp at key places. Kalabhavan Mani did his best to infuse life into his character, Kannan was effective, Vidya looked sensuous and she did her bit with ease, Althara was apt, Machan Verghese was mediocre, Boban was brief, Salim Kumar failed to get the laughs, the others did their bit.

Conclusion:
The film attempts to combine the age old tale and how it will fit into today's world. While the thought is good, the maker was busy holding a discussion on the pros and cons ignoring the impact it would cause on the audience. While the first half was better with the idea and all that but the second half was dragging with unwanted and lengthy conversations. Overall, the film didn't have a single moment where it could connect with the audience. This will sink at the box office.
