Bodyguard Malluwood Movie Review

Story:
An oft repeated tale, the story begins with the life of Jayakrishnan (dileep) who grows with only one ambition - to take up the job of risks and relish it. The best bet for that would be a bodyguard and true to this passion, he becomes the bodyguard for the dreaded don Asokan (thyagarajan). However, the story takes a turn when Asokan's darling daughter Ammu (Nayantara) takes up college and Jayakrishnan is assigned the task of being her bodyguard. Well, it doesn't take long before cupid strikes between the two but then that is where the real trouble begins. So what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a beaten track and though he relied on his presentation, it was not that great and even the narrative was not captivating. The dialogues were good at points, the script was mediocre and the screenplay was average. Background score was neat but songs were not that great. Cinematography was rich, the costumes were trendy and the art department was strong. Editing could have been sharp at few instances. Comedy track was weak. Dileep came up with an average performance since his role didn't have the depth, Nayantara looked stunningly hot and she is a real visual feast, Thyagarajan was scary and effective, Pakru was neat, Mithra was good, Janardhanan was regular, Zeenath was okay, the others did their bit as per standard.

Conclusion:
The film came in with a lot of hype and given the star power involved, it also raised the expectations to a new level. However, though the starting is good, the film fizzles out as it passes by. Once the second half arrives, things get quite dull and the final nail on the head is the climax which is absurd and abrupt. Technically, the film has been made well and the brand value is good but content and execution of the plot was not good. The film will find it hard to make decent profits. It will need positive word of mouth publicity.
