Sugriva Sandalwood Movie Review

Story:
A remake tale, the story begins with Sugriv (shivanna) who is an ordinary car mechanic and he is right now in a lot of stress. His dear son is having an heart ailment and Sugriv is unable to cough up the Rs 4.5 lakhs demand of the corporate hospital. His wife Pooja (yagna) gives a stunning statement which makes Sugriv take a drastic step. He decides to hijack the ICU unit of the hospital and puts that for ransom in exchange for his son's operation for free. That doesn't work and meanwhile, the hospital is surrounded by the police. Then, he proposes to kill himself so that his heart can be given to his kid. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Sugriva Kannada Cinema Review

Presentation:
The director has come up with a gripping plot and though the presentation was weak, the narrative was good. Dialogues were apt, the script was well written and the screenplay was effective. Background score was good, only one song is there. Cinematography could have been better. Editing was crisp. Costumes were natural and the art department was perfect. Shivarajkumar was excellent with his part and showed the emotions very well, Yagna was competent and made her presence felt, the others like Dilipraj, Prakash Heggodu, Ninasam Ashwath, Achyuth Kumar, RG Vijayasarathy, Harshika Poonachcha, Manju Bhargavi contributed well and added mileage to the film.

Conclusion:
The film is a remake of the Hollywood hit 'John Queue' which had Denzel Washington in the lead. Though this cannot be matched with the original, it had enough efforts to make it appealing. While the first half of the film takes off slowly the pace builds up eventually and the second half is at its peak. Technically, the film could have been better but the makers pull it off with good narrative and deft handling of the script. This is more of an offbeat genre given the number of technicians and directors involved so marks must be given to the efforts to come up with something different.
