Story: An interesting tale, the story begins with Abhijit (mammootty) who gets a book titled Shikari from the library and it catches his interest. However, few pages of the book go missing and he sets out to locate them. This gets him to Manjanadka and he gets exposed to some unusual events of the pre-independence period. It is here he discovers about Arun. In this process, he also chances upon Nanditha (poonam) daughter of the book’s author Gopinath Shinde. Together, they decided to find out regarding the missing pages. Meanwhile, Nanditha falls in love with Abhijit. What happens after that forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation: The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was appealing, the narrative was gripping at few points. The dialogues were well written. The script was average and the screenplay was decent. Background score was good and songs were upto the mark. Cinematography was captivating. Editing was required at few places but overall it was good. Costumes were impressive while the art department was excellent. Mammootty has come up with a very good performance though he had few hiccups in dialogue delivery. Poonam Bajwa was perfect for the role and has a domestic sex appeal. Adhitya was apt, Sharat Lohitashva was standard, Achyuth Kumar was regular, Ninasam Ashwath was natural. |
Conclusion: The film marks the debut of Malayalam megastar Mammootty into Kannada but he has shown elegance in his act. The flavour of the movie is a mix of art and commercial movie. While the first half takes off on an interesting note, the interval bang was mediocre. Though the second half picks up in good momentum there were few places where the scenes got dragged. Overall, this is a film which must be watched for its taking and making. At the box office, the film would be a profit grosser. Bharatstudent verdict: Worth watching once |
