Orata - I Love You Sandalwood Movie Review

A regular affair, the story is about Varada (Prashanth) who is more like a vagabond and has nothing to do but pick up fights and lacks any civilized sense. As luck would have it, he comes across Kavya (Sowmya) and falls in love with her at the first sight. Known for his brute approach towards things, he literally falls at the feet of Kavya to get her love but fails. Fate plays an interesting turn and Varada saves Kavya from a shameful situation, gives her a place to stay and though his feelings for her do not change, he does not express them. His good natured heart appeals to Kavya and she starts building feelings for him but decides to confess her love once she completes her education. However, Varada's past haunts him and his scuffle with don Kencha resurfaces when the politician he helps betrays him and deserts him. Kencha beats the pulp out of Varada and leaves him to die but then he is rescued by his friends. Varada however is unable to cope up with this and wants his friends to spread word that he is no more and he wants to go far away from all this. In this process, Kavya falls severely ill looking at whatever happens and Varada is not made to go due to some inevitable situations. What happens in the end forms the rest of the story.

Orata - I Love You Kannada Cinema Review

Director Sri who is making his debut with this love flick has given a good attempt at keeping the film in grip. Though there was not much substance in the story, his racy script and presentation along with some tight narration took the movie at a healthy pace. However, he seems to have made a mistake at the lead pair which had its own drawbacks. The music was acceptable for a debut and the camera work did not disappoint. Prashant who put his heart and soul to get things right in his debut attempt could not get to the standards as he lacked the expressions at the required moments. He still needs to polish his skills before he hits the screen next time. Sowmya was okay but then her height seems to be the problem , she would more suit the second leads. The other artists have done their roles with ease and they had nothing much to offer.

Orata - I Love You Filem Review

A routine subject which had nothing new to offer could have been more of a pain but then the director made conscious efforts to keep the thin story line strong with a firm approach on the subject. Good enough for a debut, the screenplay was alright. While the first half covered the romance angle, the later half covered the sentiment angle and the violent angle and the climax was a bit disappointing to the audience who are not used to unpleasant endings. The film could have been much better if the cast was taken properly and perhaps a little more focus on the comedy would have made it more interesting.

Bharatstudent verdict: Just about okay. Nothing great about it.
