Lucky Sandalwood Movie Review

Story: An average tale, the story begins with Lucky (yash) who is constantly trying to get the attention of Gowri (ramya) as he is in love with her. He has a roommate who vacates his room along with another person 420 Anand (sharan) so Lucky has to help them. One day, Lucky gets an interview call for an ad company and he discovers that Gowri is in the same office. He decides to go through complete makeover so that she doesn’t recognize him. He names himself as Vikram and joins the company. After a while he gets close to Gowri and proposes his love to her. However, Gowri reveals she is in love with Lucky. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Lucky Kannada Cinema Review

Presentation: The director has come up with an unusual storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative was not that catchy. The dialogues were regular. The script was average and screenplay was just okay. Background score was energetic and two songs were worth humming. Cinematography was the saving grace. Editing was required in few situations. Costumes were well designed while the art department was trendy. Yash has come up with good performance in dance and other departments, Ramya looks ravishingly sexy in sarees but nothing in performance. Sharan brought few smiles. Sadhu Kokila was standard. Shankar Bhat was simple, Biradar was neat, Tabla Nani was disappointing. Vijay Chandur was apt. The others didn’t have much to offer.

Conclusion: The idea of coming up with a love story packed with humour is good but such projects require good grip over the script and very catchy screenplay. That was missing here. While the first half is routing with elements of song, romance and some amateur comedy, the second half has got the real plot with some twists. The focus was more on the presentation and style than on the substance and content. At the box office, the openings will be good at B, C centers but success is highly unlikely given the lack of depth in the execution.
