Kallara Santhe Sandalwood Movie Review

A satire on the system, the story begins with Somu (yash) who is a post graduate and he believes in leading a life of honesty and righteousness. In this process, he starts his career as a lecturer but in due course, he is compelled to change the lines. He then becomes a reporter, then a auto driver, a canteen owner. Finally, he ends up becoming a thief and as fate would have it, he is surrounded by the police. However, Somu gets on top of a building and threatens to commit suicide. He has six demands to be met and one personal request to none other than the chief minister (rangayana). All this apart, Somu also has a love interest in the form of Roopa (haripriya). So what happens to Somu's demands? This forms the essence of the story.

Kallara Santhe Kannada Cinema Review

The director has come up with a thought provoking storyline and while the narrative has been good, the presentation could have been better. Dialogues were filled with humor and depth, script had few flaws, the screenplay was alright. Background score was neat but the songs could have been better. Cinematography was upto the mark. Editing was appealing. Costumes didn't have much role to play while the art department was minimal. Yash has put in a lot of efforts to bring that intensity into his character, he deserves credit. Haripriya is a natural beauty and she has filled the glamour quotient in a good way. Rangayana Raghu came up with another entertaining performance, Sudha Belawadi was standard, Adi Lokesh was apt, Jai Jagadish was effective, Kishor and Shobaraj made their presence felt.

Kallara Santhe Filem Review

The film is basically a satire on the present political system and how difficult and corrupt it is when one wants to rectify it. While the first half passes off with smooth incidents filled with wit and pun, it is the second half that gets a bit dragged. Overall, the attempt by the makers is appreciative since it provokes the viewers to look at the shallow political stream that our country has. However, it could have been more effective if they could look at a possible wake up remedy for this and also mixed with some more entertainment. The film will appeal to the concept looking and sensible audience.

Bharatstudent Verdict : Thought provoking and witty, can be watched once
