Gokula Sandalwood Movie Review
An average fare, the story is about four friends - Raja, N Raja, Shankar and Guru (Vijay Raghavendra, Yash, Raghuraj and Pawan) who are basically orphans and grow up together. Their livelihood is by doing petty thefts and they take life as it comes. However, Raja is close to an aged couple (srinivasamurthy and Sumithra) since they consider him as their son. They live in a big bungalow which is worth few crores and that makes them the target for the local rowdy Kaale. However, Kaale realizes the connection Ravi has with the couple and strikes a deal with the four youngsters. However, what they don't realize is that a shocking truth awaits them and whether they rectify it or not forms the rest of the story.
Gokula Kannada Cinema Review
The director has come up with a routine story and both the presentation and narrative have been average. The script was regular, the dialogues were normal, the screenplay was tolerable. Background score was good and three songs are nice and melodious. Cinematography was above average and made its presence felt. Editing was missing at key points. Costumes were effective and the art department was alright. Vijay Raghavendra carried his part well, Yash was okay, Pawan was neat, Raghuraj was good, Pooja Gandhi seems to have put on weight but she looks sexy as usual. The real showstealers were Srinivasamurthy and Sumithra who gave it an emotional touch. Even Nakshatra was impressive though her role was brief.
Gokula Filem Review
The film is more of a regular formula entertainer and there is not much logic or depth given to the script. While the first half goes about with the elements of comedy and introducing the characters, it is the second half when things get serious and take an emotional turn. The technical values were alright and if the writing had good strength, it would have clicked. Overall, this is an average fare at the box office so maybe a section of the family audience would like it.
Bharatstudent Verdict: Just okay.
