Dev Son of Muddhe Gowda Sandalwood Movie Review

Story: An interesting tale the story begins with Dev (diganth) the happy go lucky son of Mudde Gowda (ananth nag). Apparently, Gowda is a self made man and he gives everything to his son but wants him to study well. However, Dev is interested in getting into films and this brings about a conflict between father and son. Dev is asked to leave home and he goes away. In his attempts to get a breakthrough, he gets a major support from Kavya (charmee) a choreographer who wants to become a director. Eventually, Dev joins acting school and works at a hotel. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation: The director has come up with a usual storyline and while the presentation was appealing, the narrative was catchy. The dialogues were written well. The script was above average and the major strength was the screenplay. Background score was good and three songs were worth watching. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was crisp. Costumes were trendy and stylish while the art department was colorful. Diganth has come up with a mature performance and doesn’t have any overaction. Charmee looks not only charming but she also has good performing skills. Ananth Nag was apt for the role. Indrajith Lankesh, Tabla Nani, Swayamvara Chandru, Raju Thalikote brought few laughs. Sudha Belawadi was standard.

Conclusion: Though the story is quite understandable it is the taking and making which makes the film a worth watching treat. Moreover, the performances from the principal cast engages the audience as they travel along with the protagonist and experience good emotional moments. While the first half goes on a lighter note with elements of comedy and fun, the second half gets slightly serious and has the required twists and turns with a dose of melodrama. At the box office, the film will appeal to the family and other genres of audience so success looks sure.

Bharatstudent verdict: Well made flick, recommended
