Avva Sandalwood Movie Review

A potboiler of foul words and excessive kissing, the film is about Rangavva (Shruthi) who is a local money lender in the village and is known for her acidic tongue and mercurial temper. However, she dotes on one thing in life, her darling daughter Savanthri (Smitha) and her only aim in life is to see her daughter married off so that her position is consolidated  village is silent once and for all. However, Rangavva is from a upper caste and has problems in the form of Baramanna (Rangayana Raghu) who is a tough competitor to her and poses trouble and secondly the presence of Manja (Vijay) who comes from a lower caste but is crazy about her daughter. On the other hand, there is this sex starved and lust crazy wife of Baramanna and a woman whose mouth is full of filth in her words.  As things start getting difficult due to the trouble from Baramanna , she takes a very bold step by marrying Savanthri to Majna. What happens next forms the rest of the story.

Avva Kannada Cinema Review

Director Kavitha Lankesh should have got few basics of film making right before he ventured on this project. The script is weak, the narration is highly unparliamentary, the presentation is vulgar. Even the music has failed to live upto the standard. The other departments need no mention here as they have nothing worthwhile to offer. Vijay has done a mistake by going for this role as there is nothing for him as an actor. Shruthi was good in her loud role which is contrast to her usual soft and caring roles. Hanumakka was horrendous with her language. One really wonders what was going on in Smitha's mind when she was doing those endless kisses with Vijay.

Avva Filem Review

A very flimsy story line which has been dragged for a full length feature which led to the inclusion of unwanted scenes and unnecessary issues. The entire film goes on a pace of its own and the only thing the audience can take home is the list of bad words that have been used and the countless lip locking sequences. There is nothing that can save this film from getting out in two weeks time, thanks to its extreme presentation of ideas.

Bharatstudent verdict: Pure vulgarity and raw!! Not worth viewing...
