Tashan Bollywood Movie Review

Story:
A daringly different treat, the movie is set on a different backdrop which looks very much real. The story is about the bad guy Bhayyaji (Anil Kapoor) who has this strange penchant for learning English and flaunts his style in his own way. For this, he seeks the help of call centre executive Jimmy (Saif Ali Khan) who is reluctant to do so but then thanks to the intelligent and beautiful Pooja (Kareena Kapoor), he takes up the assignment and has a tough time trying to be a teacher to a don. In this process, he falls for the pretty Pooja and love happens. However, things don't look so straight as they seem and as a result of some unexpected twists and turns, the don Bhayyaji gets angry while the slick Jimmy gets deceived in a game of double crossing. All this apart, there is another character Bachchan Pandey (Akshay Kumar) a professional hit man who is set for a particular job of tracking a target and eliminating it and in the end he becomes the target. What follows is a roller coaster ride of action, high voltage drama and sentiment which can be enjoyed by watching it on screen.

Presentation:

Finally, the Yashraj camp has come up with something very different and a bit twisty, though the story line is weak, the presentation of the story and the narration of the plot was done very well. The script was tight and though there were some flaws, the brilliant screenplay kind of made up for the drawbacks. Music was excellent in terms of the background score and two numbers but nothing worthwhile to take home. The editing desk could have been a bit more crisp, full marks to the camera and the costume departments which have come up with a master's job and skillful capturing of the moment. Coming to the cast, Kareena Kapoor was more of a glam doll and did her bit while Saif Ali Khan could not come out with his usual charms and presence. The real tussle was between Akshay Kumar who has come with a brilliant performance yet again and the evergreen Anil Kapoor who is class apart. All said and done, it was Anil Kapoor who has the steel in him to give any top star a run for the credits and recognition. The others were upto the mark and contributed well to the movie.

Conclusion:
Though the storyline did not have a great subject to offer, it is the presentation and style that the makers have relied on added with some really good performances to see the film through. The entire film goes on with good pace and a lot of care has been taken on justifying the characters and their presence. The movie no doubt has the required elements of entertainment but if the story was focused a bit more than its presentation, things could have been a lot better. The film will still reach a hit mark with its commercial values and perhaps the Yashraj camp can have the smile and suitcases ready after a string of disasters.

Bharatstudent Verdict: Worth watching!!! A slick and different entertainer!!!
