Story: A hilarious tale of love, the film is set on the backdrop of Parsi community and in this lives Farhad (boman irani) who is a 40 year old bachelor and working as a salesman in a lingerie shop. There are only two women in his life, his dominating mother and his grandmother who dotes on him. While they have given up on him in terms of marriage, Farhad has not. His life takes a turn when Shirin (farah khan) walks into his shop one day and this aggressive and assertive girl steals his heart. But are they destined to fall in love? Can they marry each other? All this forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation: The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was neat, the narrative was decent. The dialogues were quite natural, the script was upto the mark and the screenplay was above average. Background score was suitable but songs were not that great. Cinematography was effective. Editing was required during the emotional scenes. Costumes were apt to the backdrop while the art department was appealing. Boman Irani steals the show throughout and he deserves the brownie points. Farah Khan was the perfect choice for this role and she has fitted herself very well. Daisy Irani was good. Shammi was excellent. Kurush Deboo was neat and Kavin Dave was apt. |
Conclusion: Coming up with a storyline that deals with love between middle aged people is actually an offbeat concept and it takes good spirit of humour and nice screenplay to run the show. This film has achieved that to an extent. The first half goes off smoothly and has few funny moments but the second half loses the momentum due to overdose of melodrama and emotional sequences. The climax is interesting though. Overall, this is a film which should work with the multiplex audience and not much with the masses. At the box office, this would be a commercial success. Bharatstudent verdict: Unusual love entertainer, can be watched |
