Shaurya Bollywood Movie Review

A very gripping drama, the story starts with two friends Sid (Rahul Bose) and Akash (Javed Jaffery) who are the very best of friends and are based in the Indian army as military lawyers. However, their ideologies are quite different. While Akash is a more aggressive and determined go getter, Sid is a more cheerful happy go lucky kind of person who would not hesitate to take a side step to escape few harsh realities. Things change when Captain Javed Khan (Deepak Dobriyal) is taken into custody and he is facing the charges of murdering his colleague. The whole scene shifts to the courtroom where Javed is maintaining complete silence and watches the proceedings as a spectator since he holds a truth which will be too hot to handle and might very well shake the whole system while Sid and Akash get to sit on opposite sides of the table trying to save from one end and convict him from the other respectively. On the other hand, there is brigadier Rudra Pratap Singh (Kay Kay Menon) who is bent upon getting Javed prosecuted with the charge. Throughout this process, each individual goes through a transformation and especially Sid who gets to face life with some harsh reality. What happens in the end forms the real suspense in the story.

Shaurya Hindi Cinema Review

Director Samar Khan has come up with an absolute beauty considering his past flicks and has chosen a very controversial yet hard hitting subject. The narration has been excellent and the presentation is equally powerful thanks to some power packed performances from a very efficient cast. The script has got many loose ends but then the screenplay is so tight and the direction is masterly that such drawbacks get camouflaged. Editing has been crisp and the camera has done a good job in capturing the heat of the drama effectively. Rahul Bose has come up with an impressive performance and so does Javed Jaffery who got a strong footing with this role. The real stunner was Kay Kay Menon whose performance is worth remembering for a long time. Minissha Lamba as Kavya does her role pretty well and Amrita Rao in a special appearance does her bit with justice. Seema Biswas is natural and others have come out with standard performances.

Shaurya Filem Review

A truly insightful film that takes you to the heart of the system and shows a real conflict between values and ethics, while the first half goes about with some regular scenes of camaraderie and ambition, it is the second half which gets you into the groove and the momentum is so high that it promises to be a nail biting finish. The last twenty minutes makes up for any flaws in the film and when the truth is revealed, it is a rather shocking but embarrassing position that the audience is subject to which cannot be denied but accepted in complete reflection. The film is mainly for the serious cinema buffs and may not have much to do with the mass audience.

Bharatstudent verdict: Worth a watch!!! Only for those who look at quality cinema.
