Sadiyaan Bollywood Movie Review
An old fashioned tale, the story is set on the backdrop of the partition and during 1947, Benazir (hema malini) decides to move to Lahore and in that panic, leaves behind her baby. The child is spotted by Amrit (rekha) and her husband Rajveer (rishi). Despite several attempts, they are unable to locate the parents so they raise the child up. He grows up to be Ishaan (luv) and story reaches the 70s. He falls in love with Chandni (ferena) and as expected, her parents oppose the alliance since Ishaan is Hindu. Rajveer enters the picture and decides to reveal the truth about the birth of Ishaan. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Sadiyaan Hindi Cinema Review
The director has come up with a tale set on a different backdrop and though the presentation was good, the narrative is predictable. The dialogues were smooth, the script was fluctuating at few places, the screenplay was okay. Background score was nice and one song was good. Cinematography was masterly and the locations were beautiful. While the costumes oozed out grandeur, full marks go to the art department. Luv has come up with an okay performance but he needs to improve. Ferena looks beautiful but she has to focus on her clothes and make up. The real show stealers were Rekha, Hema Malini and Rishi Kapoor. With experience and sheer talent, they have a strong impact. Shabana was superb, Javed Sheikh was impressive, Avtar was alright, Deep was usual, the others did their bit as required.
Sadiyaan Filem Review
Given the backdrop of the film, the story might appeal to those who wish to visit the past. While the first half goes about with the regular elements of romance and the usual opposition, the second half gets interesting. Though it falters there as well, the climax is well concocted. The production values are quite high and technical aspects were convincing. This is not a youth entertainer so it will appeal to mature family audiences. Commercially, it could be a profit grosser if the subject is liked.
