Phoonk 2 Bollywood Movie Review

A sequel to a gripping treat, the story begins with Rajeev (sudeep) moving to a bigger house along with his wife Aarti (amruta) and daughter Raksha (ahsaas), son and servant Lakshmi (anu ansari). The kids begin to explore the sea shore, the woods behind the home and in one such instance, they come across a doll. They bring the doll home and from then on, some traumatic experiences begin to happen. Rajeev doesn't mind much at the start but eventually realizes something is wrong, he goes to see Manja (zakir) but he is dead. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Phoonk 2 Hindi Cinema Review

The director has come up with a continuation to the story and though his idea is good and presentation was effective, the narrative was weak. The dialogues were dull, the script was weak and the screenplay was apt. Background score was impressive and as usual no songs, cinematography was top notch while editing was good. Costumes were neat and the art department was really haunting. Sudeep has come up with a standard performance since he has done it before, Amruta was convincing this time, Ahsaas was the best among the lot, Zakir Hussain was hardly there, Ashwini was creepy, Jeeva made his presence felt, Anu was standard, Amit and Neeru didn't have much to offer. The others did their bit as required.

Phoonk 2 Filem Review

The film is a continuation of where it was left in the original and though the first part was effective, the second part suffers due to lack of proper content. Also, the entire pace of the film was extremely slow and it is not until the interval that the real momentum begins. The shock points were not much though the hype was created and barring few sound effects at the right time, it is not really that scary a film. The openings will be good due to the Ram Gopal Varma brand value but eventually, it will fizzle out since as it is, the audience for such genres is quite limited. The film would have scored if they focused on creating more fear and added proper substance to the script.
