Paan Singh Tomar Bollywood Movie Review

Story: An interesting biopic, the story begins with Paan Singh Tomar (irrfan) who is a seven time national champion in steeple chase. He was born in the dacoit infested region of Morena and eventually he joined the army as a jawan. Though Tomar made his mark internationally, his family was suffering the same oppression which led his uncles to become outlaws. The same blood runs in Tomar and he doesn’t like his coach abusing him. However, at one point the whole thing breaks and Tomar breaks the system to become a dacoit in Chambal valley. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Paan Singh Tomar Hindi Cinema Review

Presentation: The director has come up with a real life storyline and while the presentation was realistic, the narrative was captivating at most points. The dialogues were natural with an element of humour. The script was well written but the screenplay faltered at few places. Background score was intense. Cinematography was excellent. Editing was required during the second half. Costumes didn’t have much to do while the art department was quite natural to the surroundings. Irrfan Khan comes up with yet another riveting performance and he steals the show. Mahie Gill was enticingly seductive and performs very well. Vipin Sharma was good. Rajendra Gupta was impressive. Imran Hasnee was neat, Brijendra Kala was upto the mark. The others did their bit as required.

Conclusion: The film happens to be a real life story of a national hero during the early 60s who felt betrayed by the nation when he needed them and he took up arms to become a rebel against the system. While the first half goes about with a smooth entertaining stream, it is the second half that has few jerks and slows down. However, the climax picks up and though the ending is a bit intense and makes you reflect it leaves an impression. Overall, this is a movie which would appeal for all genres of audience and for the subject chosen. At the box office, this would land easily into profit zone.
