Memories In March Bollywood Movie Review
Story:
An unusual tale, the story is about a mother (deepti naval) and she is currently grieving the loss of her son. However, fate has its own way of playing with life and she discovers that her son had a male lover (rituparno ghosh). As expected, she resents him completely and feels that she knows more about her son than anyone else. However, with time both the mother and the son's lover understand the grief and begin to share the pain of losing a dear one. There is also the son's colleague (raima sen) who has a crush. What happens in this process forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a thought provoking storyline and while the presentation was okay, the narrative was alright. The dialogues were intense, the script was well written and the screenplay was moderate. Background score was alright but only one song was good. Cinematography was apt. Editing was alright. Costumes were effective while the art department was appealing. Deepti Naval comes up with a brilliant performance and she has scored the brownie points. Rituparno Ghosh makes his presence felt and has given a sincere effort. Raima Sen looks ravishingly seductive and her performance is impeccable.

Conclusion:
The film deals with alternative sexuality and that in itself is a dampener when it comes to the regular audience. While the first half goes mildly with the building up of the plot, the second half reveals many emotional and melodramatic moments. Overall, this is not a film which is meant for entertainment or a message. It is more of a person's experience in life and the way it was projected is appreciable. At the box office, this will not appeal to mass, class or family but only for the film festival and thinking audience. Due to poor publicity, the film will suffer further.
