Khushboo Bollywood Movie Review

Story:

Touching base with the super hit 'Jab We Met', the film is about the Tamil boy Raghu (Rishi) who is an ambitious lad with the sole objective of making it big in his career and he would stop at nothing to ensure that he gets into the big league by taking up the offer in New York. On the other hand, there is Pinky (Avantikka) who is a typical Sardarni but then has a tender heart and an equally soft nature. Raghu has to make a visit to Chandigarh before he takes off to New York and just when he is reaching the door to his goal, fate comes in as his eyes fall on Pinky and some strange force keeps pulling Raghu towards her. However, his attempts to reach her go in vain as she keeps slipping each time he comes near her. As luck would have it, they finally get to meet each other, know each other and as expected cupid strikes and love happens. But then Pinky sets a condition that Raghu meet her family before his journey and when Raghu agrees, he is in for a very warm and overbearing Punjabi family who believes in love, sharing and caring. Raghu is overwhelmed by their affection and there starts the dilemma for him, whether to shun affections and go for his goal or reach the warmth of the emotions which he has not been used to. All this forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director wanted to come across with a heart rendering tale but then he has missed out on the presentation and narration aspect by a mile. The script was written very poorly and the dialogues were not having the required flavor. He has been well supported by some real good music and some stunning visual effects of the camera but then other things like editing were totally missing from the picture. Newcomer Rishi has got a good physique and made good use of it but then he needs to polish his expressions and emotional acts which look theatrical. Avantikka was pretty, traditional and showed the traits of a natural beauty but then her points of development would be her presentation and style and especially her make up which needs to be changed. Veteran Prem Chopra was a show stealer while Himani Shivpuri did her role with grace, the others like Nishad, Dara Singh, Gargi carried out their roles effectively and added value to the film but big stars like Chunky Pandey, Raj Babbar whizzed without a sound. The others were just about okay.

Conclusion:

The film is good in parts but on the whole it had to be polished from many ends. Trying to match up to the romantic masterpiece 'A Walk in the Clouds', the film has lost out on many aspects and though the technical values were strong and the performance of the lead cast was impressive, it is the script that has turned out to be the culprit. The film can hardly make an impact on the audience as they have seen it all in much better forms but the saving aspect is it does not give you a sense of frustration or anguish with its presentation.

Bharatstudent verdict: A below average tale, not that great.
