Khap Bollywood Movie Review
An unusual tale, the story is set on the backdrop of Khap Panchayat where the Khaps rule. First in the list is Omkar Chaudhary (om puri) and he is assisted by Daulat Singh (govind namdeo) and Sukhiram (manoj pahwa). The story takes a turn when Omkar's granddaughter Ria falls in love with Kush and gets married to him. This enrages the panchayat who believe in honour killings. Both Ria and Kush begin to rebel against the age old customs and stiff rules made by the Panchayat. While they have their point of view, the panchayat has its own. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.
Khap Hindi Cinema Review
The director has come up with a truthful storyline and while the presentation was classy, the narrative was different. The dialogues were alright, the script was good but had few visible flaws while the screenplay was gripping. Background score was good in parts and two songs were fantastic. Cinematography was appealing. Editing was sharp but could have been better. Costumes were natural while the art department was suiting the moods. The film belongs to Om Puri who walks away with good performance. Yuvika looks sizzling as usual but she needs to work on her expressions. Kush was cool. Govind Namdeo is another valuable asset as he carries the role very well. Another show stealer was Manoj Pahwa with his riveting performance. Anuradha Patel was sensuous, Mohnish Bahl was matured.
Khap Filem Review
The film deals with the very sensitive subjects of honour killing and the following of age old customs by few panchayats in India. While the first half goes on a lighter mode due to the elements of songs, romance etc, it is the second half which gets riveting and intense. However, the makers took caution not to make it a serious dark film and added some share of entertainment. At the box office, the film will have decent response but success is unlikely.
