Kashmakash Bollywood Movie Review

Story:
A well knit tale, the story begins with two lovers Ramesh (jishu) and Hem (raima) in Kolkata. Ramesh gets an urgent call from his father in the village and he leaves. On reaching there, he discovers that he is forced to marry Susheela, daughter of a widow. Despite revealing his affair, he is persuaded to marry. Both set sail back to Kolkata but a storm strikes. Ramesh opens his eyes to see a young bride. He gets her to Kolkata and it is discovered that she is Kamala (riya) not Susheela. Her husband is a doctor by name Nalinaksha (prosenjit). Ramesh decides to get Kamala to Nalinaksha. What happens to Hem and what happens to Ramesh forms the rest of the story.

Kashmakash Hindi Cinema Review

Presentation:
The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was nice, the narrative was decent. The dialogues were well written, the script was written without much flaws but the screenplay was effective. Background score was nice and songs okay. Cinematography was fitting. Editing was required during critical situations. Costumes were moderate while the art department was matching the situations and looked rich. Prosenjit has come up with a delectable performance, Jisshu was good, Raima Sen was stunningly beautiful and performs magnificently. Another revelation was Riya Sen sans glamour. The others did their bit as required and added value.

Conclusion:
The film is the dubbed version of the critically acclaimed Bengali movie Noukadubi which is based on the novel written by Rabindranath Tagore. This may not be tagged as a mainstream movie but then the content and the performances are so powerful that it can be called as thinking movie. While the first half goes about with the twists, the second half is all about the intensity and the emotional journey. This may not appeal to the regular fun loving audience but then it has a flavour that cannot be missed. At the box office, this will land in profit zone.
