Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal Bollywood Movie Review

Story: A dull tale, the story is set on the backdrop of a village and here lives Johnny (shreyas) son of David (Om Puri). Johnny is very scared of everything and everyone and that’s why he is called Bakri in the village. His only happiness is his love for Maria (madhurima) but she is the daughter of Peter (paresh rawal), David’s sworn enemy. Peter also has two well built sons and he wants to ensure that Johnny and Maria don’t meet. The story takes a turn with the arrival of a silent and rather gutsy man Sam (nana patekar) who comes with a past. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal Hindi Cinema Review

Presentation: The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was nice, the narrative was bad.  The dialogues were good at places, the script was weak and the screenplay was not tight. Background score was good but songs were bad. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was required at many places. Costumes were natural while the art department was reasonable. Nana Patekar was not used to his full potential and same is the case with Paresh Rawal. Om Puri made his presence felt. The real showstealer was Shreyas Talpade who delivers. Madhurima looks very pretty. Asrani was alright, Neeraj Vora brought few smiles, Shakti Kapoor was standard, Rajeev Pillai was good.

Conclusion: Given the fact that it is directed by Priyadarshan and there is an awesome star cast, one would enter the theatres with high expectations. But within few minutes, the tale fizzles out. The first half is somewhat alright with few elements of comedy and romance but the second half gets into a very dragged length and even the climax is not convincing. This time, the study was not proper on giving a good depth to the script. Overall, the film finds it hard to click at the box office.

Bharatstudent verdict: Good thought, good cast but poor execution, not recommended
