Kahaani Bollywood Movie Review

Story: A gripping tale, the story is set on the backdrop of Kolkata and here comes Vidya Bagchi (Vidya Balan) all the way from London. She is seven months pregnant and the objective of her visit is to trace her missing husband. To add to the woes, there is no specific evidence she has but only few distant memories. But all these clues take her nowhere and Vidya begins to conclude that her husband is no more. Amidst this, she discovers a blatant truth about how the city is filled with deceit and vows to find her husband even if that would mean sacrificing her life.

Kahaani Hindi Cinema Review

Presentation: The director has come up with a completely intense storyline and while the presentation was realistic, the narrative was captivating. The dialogues were natural with raw flavour. The script was average but screenplay was quite involving. Background score was energetic and songs were there to give that mood. Cinematography was natural as it captured the local environment rightly. Editing was required during the second half. Costumes didn’t have much to do while the art department was wonderful. Vidya Balan shines again with her outstanding performance, she was all over. Parambrata Chattopadhyay was excellent, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was brilliant, Dhritiman was decent, Saswata Chatterjee was standard. The others did their bit as required and added value.

Kahaani Filem Review

ConclusionAfter the super success of The Dirty Picture, this is yet another film which shows Vidya’s abilities as a performer. However, the film revolves entirely around a woman and her travails and how she tries to overcome the challenge. At the outset, the logic is impractical but it is all about the making and taking with conviction which brings confidence. While the first half goes about smoothly, the second half picks momentum. At the box office, the film will appeal to the thinking audience and especially women audience.
Bharatstudent verdict: Compassionate and intense
