Jumbo Bollywood Movie Review

Story:

A well knit tale, the story is set on the backdrop of an imaginary forest and in that lives the young and vibrant Jaiveer dearly known as Jumbo. He has a dream and that is to become a royal elephant and that is only possible if he can go and get back his father Yudhveer who has been missing since quite a while. If he is successful in this then he gets to be the royal elephant. Jumbo sets out in search of his missing father and in this process, he comes across as a very friendly and kind elephant trainer, a messenger bird Dildaar that is over active and full of energy and last but not the least there is Sonia, the female elephant who eventually falls in love with Jumbo and becomes his sweetheart. Then there is the evil Bakhtavar who is keen on creating unrest in the forest. So what happens to Jumbo's search? Is he successful in his pursuit? Does he have the courage to defend the forest when he becomes the war elephant chosen by the king? All this forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come up with a typical Bollywood style of plot but then his narrative and presentation has been quite to the mark. The dialogues are apt, the script was written well and the technical department has done a fair job. The music has been well choreographed and the animation department has come out with the perfect settings which have not been seen in Indian animation flicks before. The scenes featuring Akshay Kumar have been good enough and it is the voiceovers that were impressive. Akshay, Lara, Dimple, Rajpal and Gulshan Grover did full justice to their roles and gave a realistic feel of the characters talking than them. The other departments did their bit to add value to the film.

Conclusion:

The film finds a strong shade of the Hollywood animation blockbuster like 'The Lion King' but then the makers were smart enough to take the basic plot and infuse it with the desi flavor like emotions, sentiment, romance, action, revenge and other shades of a typical Indian film. While the first half has not been that great and took some time to settle with the audience, the setback is made up during the second half with the action sequences and the fast paced moving of the story. Technically, this has been the most creative and best made animated flicks but then it will be a while before they can reach the Hollywood standards. That will happen soon. The film will surely find its appeal among the kids and for those elders who want something different, they wont be disappointed.

Bharatstudent Verdict: Neatly made, can be watched once...
