Ishqiya Bollywood Movie Review
A rustic tale, the story is set on the backdrop of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and here are two thieves - Khalujaan (naseeruddin shah) and Babban (arshad) who are trying to escape from their boss Mushtaq. In this process, they decide to go to a friend's place and get into hiding. Here, they come across Krishna (vidya) who is the widow of their friend. In no time, both thieves get attracted to Krishna and while Khalujaan is more nostalgic about his love towards Krishna, Babban is waiting eagerly to get her to bed. However, there is a link of the past that ties them together and in no time, it comes back. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Ishqiya Hindi Cinema Review
The director has come up with a raw storyline and both his presentation and narrative were good. The script was average but the screenplay was excellent. Background score adds to the moods and two songs are major influence. Cinematography proves its mettle and captures the locations very well. Editing was alright. Costumes were apt and the art department was perfect. The comedy and action track both are convincing. Naseeruddin Shah came up with yet another marvel and he is leagues ahead. Arshad Warsi was equally competent and he made his presence felt. Last but not the least, Vidya has shown why she is the chosen one for this role. She is seductive, raw and beautiful. Salman Shahid was neat, Rajesh Sharma was regular, the others did their bit as required.
Ishqiya Filem Review
The film is a typical Vishal Bharadwaj camp product and one can smell the flavor of 'Omkara' in this one. While the first half goes about on the lighter mode with the elements of comedy and romance, it is the second half which gets quite tricky and it is the climax that takes a while for the audience to relate to. Overall, the film scores on high quality technical aspects and power packed performances. Binding them together is the gripping narrative but if only the writing was more simplified, the film would have been much better. At the box office, the film will appeal to the masses as well as the multiplex audience but it may not be that appealing to the family audience. This will shine....
Bharatstudent verdict: Hardcore and serious, only for sensible audience
