Chhodon Naa Yaar Bollywood Movie Review

If you think this is a usual entertainer with all the ingredients for youth then please stop it right there and prepare yourself for a spine chilling horror flick with hardly anything to fear because that's what this is all about. It is about 3 students Ravi (Jimmy Shergill)., Shiv(Kabir Sadanand) and Sunny (Farid Amiri) doing  Mass Communication in Delhi who also happen to be good friends .The film begins with the three posing as actors, shaking  a leg in an 'item' song and  suddenly we are told they are aspiring to be directors. Anyways, the story moves on and the three decide to make a film for their diploma much against the request of girl friend (Kim Sharma) and professor and decide to go to the Northern Hills where they hear a story of missing people.Once they reach there, villagers don't open their mouth in fear, they encounter some icy glares from a 'Pujari' and his 'Sevak' and finally discover about a 'roaming spirit' of a girl who was brutally killed by 4-6 men. Now here comes the mystery, they decide to stay back and 'film' the live spirit which pops up in front of them (must say that scene was really well taken). Finally they manage to get something of it and show the 'film' to the friends and families of the deceased. Why? not sure.

Chhodon Naa Yaar Hindi Cinema Review

The initial half of the movie is good with opening scenes at the college, the locales of the forest well shot, some comedy scenes between the friends and especially the scene before the interval when the 'spirit' pops up in front of the three, dialogues by Kabir who plays a 'Jat' and an interesting build up to the plot which makes the viewer look forward to an exciting second half. That's where things go wrong, the movie starts fading as time passes by, there is a song which is not situational, an emotional melodrama between the friends which looks compelled and suddenly the end of the movie is near. Jimmy Shergill carried the role with ease but its time some big banners look at his talent and give him an opportunity, Kabir does well with his dialogue delivery and is the one to look forward to in the movie, Farid Amir is decent as the 'Fattu' of the film and Kim Sharma well...does not make a difference.

Chhodon Naa Yaar Filem Review

No plot in the movie, script is not continual, in a viewer's point one wonders what the movie was all about? Director Dilip Sood fails to build up on the subject. Most importantly, the title of the movie is a deceiver, one would expect 'Chhodon Na Yaar' to be a kind of upstream entertainment or more the friendship oriented movie and ends up getting hair raising horror scenes at the theatre.. Camera has done a decent job and so have the cast.

Bharatstudent Verdict: Been long since you watched a horror flick?? Watch the first half and 'Chhodon Na Yaar' the second half is not worth it.
