Story: A hilarious remake tale, the story begins with Abbas (Abhishek) who is financially broke and he goes to the house of his well wisher Shastri (asrani) at Ranakpur. He needs a job so that he can take care of himself and his sister Sania (asin). However, an incident occurs due to which Abbas is forced to lie his name and this goes rounds and rounds leading him to the house of Prithviraj (ajay devgn). Prithviraj is the most powerful man in the village and the one thing he hates the most is liars. However, Abbas ends up with a job in Prithviraj’s office. From then on starts a series of lies wherein Abbas has to portray two different identities. What happens from there forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation: The director has come up with a remake storyline and while the presentation was good, the narrative was engaging in parts. The dialogues were filled with nativity, the script was above average and the screenplay was adequate. Background score was interesting and two songs were worth listening. Cinematography was superb. Editing was required during the second half. Costumes were rustic and trendy while the art department was colorful. Ajay Devgn came up with an outstanding performance. His comic timing and dialogue delivery were good. Abhishek Bachchan has shown the performer in him, he was excellent. Asin was brief. Prachi Desai looks very pretty and made her presence felt. Krishna Abhishek was impressive. Archana Puran Singh was apt. Neeraj Vora was naturally humorous. Amitabh shines in the item song. |
Conclusion: The film happens to be the remake of the 1970s hit Golmaal made by the iconic Hrishikesh Mukherjee. However, care was taken to modify the script and bring it to today’s times. While the first half goes about with the regular elements of romance, comedy and action, the second half gets into twists and turns. However, the second half got hampered due to dragged scenes and clichéd sequences. At the box office, the film has enough to have heavy openings and it would be above average. Bharatstudent verdict: Time pass mass entertainer!! |
