With the advent of 'Hanuman ' at around the same time last year, indian cinema has taken a new turn towards animated films . Till date , Hanuman remains to be the finest of the Indian animated movies.Joining this is 'Bal Ganesh' another animated version of perhaps India's most loved hindu god , Lord Ganesh. The film is about the childhood of Lord Ganesh and covers some of the highlights in his life. The ones to mention are a) Lord Ganesh's birth as a result of his confrontation with the powerful god , Lord Shiva and b) The story behind Lord Ganesh's voracious appetite which recalls the incident of Lord Kubera inviting Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi for a feast and the consequential events c) The film also shows the chapter when Lord Ganesh has to travel around the universe which are his parents and the interesting situations.

The animation has been well executed and Shemaroo attempt at enlightening the Indian children about the god does not go in vain as the story has been sequenced well. The highlight of the film apart from the animation is the presentation of his Vaahana - the Mooshika or the rat whose antics tickle your ribs to a large extent. However, the animation could have been better at some scenes which would have made a complete circle. The background work has been decent and the vocal support had the divinity and serenity to add some flavour to the film.Dialogues are easy to understand , music has supported the theme very well.

Overall, 'Bal Ganesh' is a well made movie considering its foray into the relatively new animation genre. It has all the credits to make a positive impression but then the makers need to play their cards carefully to ensure the film is highlighted at the right time, a bit more on promotional activities will do some wonders for the film. Children will definitely be attracted by the movie and elders would find a relief to look at something divine on the silver screen which would be a break from the usual masala Bollywood stuff.

Bharatstudent verdict: Very strongly recommended for kids. Elders who need something different in terms of technology and content are advised to accompany the kids. Worth watching.
